Mother's Day - Exist in Photographs

I saw a documentary a little while ago. It was quite heavy on the heart. Without going into details of the story, I am just telling you that the film was about a group of people who, at some turning point in history, had to leave their homes in an instant. Half a century later one of them was interviewed about the past event, and all the while she was talking she was holding something in her hands. Turns out that at the time of fleeing the only item she quickly grabbed from the soon-to-be-abandoned home was a photograph of her family. In that split second she made a decision to take the one and most cherished thing with her, and it was an image of her loved ones.

Ever since I saw this film I've been thinking about this. Well, we would grab our phones, you may say, this is what a XXI. century person would do, and the phone probably has it all, countless images of mom, dad, daughter, husband, son and everyone we really love. And when the charger or the phone dies, what would we have?

And that little piece of paper with the long lost family was aged and yellowed but was still there in that woman's hand, keeping her memories alive.

When I was a little girl and this was a long ago ... let's just say pre-digital era ... we would walk into a photographer's studio with our Moms, Dads, Siblings, etc., on every milestone occasion, and had our portraits professionally taken. We got some gorgeous prints, which we framed and hung on the wall.

When was the last time you did that?

Sure, it does not have to be Mother's Day to do that. However, it seems to be the perfect day to gift Mom the gift of the most heart warming gift you can: beautiful images of herself and the ones she loves the most. Images that she can hold in her hands, hang on the wall, carry around in her wallet, showing them to everyone.

You are not only making images, but creating memories as well.
